Marktlink Connect on the Circuit of Zandvoort one more time

Entrepreneurial lessons from top entrepreneurs

The last Marktlink Connect at the Zandvoort circuit was not only a day to remember for that reason. Two absolute top entrepreneurs and investors, Robert van der Wallen and Marcel Boekhoorn, told their entrepreneurial stories, shared important entrepreneurial lessons and answered questions. Both men do not often give interviews: a unique opportunity for the more than 800 entrepreneurs present.

Other side of the table
Chairman of the day Jort Kelder first asked Tim van der Meer, Managing Partner of Marktlink, who experienced what it is like to sit on the other side of the table this year, when a British investor took an interest in Marktlink Capital. He now experienced the game with emotions and lawyers, which he normally manages for his clients, from the inside.

Focus, thinking big and discipline
Van der Wallen gave the audience his vision of entrepreneurship, a trade that he mastered by doing. Applying focus in time turned out to be the secret to becoming really successful. Wanting to win, thinking big, daring to take risks, concrete goals and bringing together good teams, that's where his strength lies. And: willpower and discipline are not the same thing, he told his audience: working consistently towards your goal with a tight schedule, that discipline is necessary to become successful.

The adventure of entrepreneurship
Boekhoorn started his career as an accountant, but soon got stuck in the fixed structures of that world and started doing business himself. With honesty and optimism, he boldly approached opportunities and learned by trial and error, and a bit of luck, what works and what doesn’t. In his investments, he is drawn to what is different, special, adventurous and 'wild': he enjoys the excitement, the risks. However, from the start, he always looks at where he wants to go with a company, to whom he wants to sell it. He urges entrepreneurs to do so: know where you want to go with your business and to whom you can sell. And: don’t forget to celebrate life!

Unique
Finally, former racing driver and entrepreneur Robert Doornbos brought the connection between top sport and entrepreneurship to life with humour, speed and g-forces. An exciting day, at the place where the very last and exciting Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix will be held this weekend: a unique event!
